This map indicates the major landowners at the end of the 1600's. Note the dominance of the Campbell of Auchinbreack family... one that disappeared after Culloden in 1745. In fact, by 1800, most of these estates had changed hands, with two proprietors dominating Knapdale: Campbell of Inverneill and Malcolm of Poltalloch.
